...but for once things are going truly phenomenally.

Been shooting a bunch lately, traveling, partying and writing...in that order.

Just worked with Sharp Pixel Studios in the Bronx. Daniel was a dream to work with. We'll be collaborating again sometime in the near future for sure. (Check out the new pics and let me know whatcha think!)

I spend most of my time all over the city, manhatten mainly but Brooklyn and the Bronx as well! And Philly, well aside from the incredible amount of drama it seems to hold, I love it there. (Not to mention my adorable boyfriend lives there!!) :D Also spent some time in Boston and Providence. EAST SIIIIDDEEEEEE!!!!

I've been writing tonsssss. New songs are coming out great. It's really awesome to do solo work cause what you create totally came from you, and you can be as cooky and meticulous as you'd like. I can't wait to fine tune them and release a few. Soon, my pretties.

What have you guys been up to? I miss you buzznet!

So thanks to BUZZNET I got to check out this years Bamboozle Festival. There were loads of great artists this year like, Paramore, Snoop Dogg, Circa Survive, Panic at the Disco, Coheed and Cambria, Every Time I Die, MXPX and more. Unfortunately I couldn't get out of work on Saturday but I did get to go Sunday, May 4th. In the early morning it was kinda overcast and gloomy out but it never rained and it got super sunny out around noon or so. That was a wonderful surprise considering the weather forecast had a 60% chance of rain. =D

First band I ran over to see was THE BANNER playing the Rebel Youth Records Stage.

I didnt get super close for them considering I was in 4-inch heels like an idiot. But they were a lot of fun.

Shortly thereafter, I was walking by to see the singer of The Maine saying a quick hello to some screaming 14 yr olds.

How sweet.

At this point I grabbed a beer for $7.75 and wondered what possessed me to spend that much for 1 drink. I don't even like beer unless its Corona with a lime of course. Ok rambling. So I catched a little of FINCH after The Banner finished. Brought me right back to '03 let me tell you. haha. Walked around a little, signed some autographs...lame, I know. Played Singstar with my friend Jess. Caught a little COBRA STARSHIP, but bounced to see THE SECRET HANDSHAKE.

I had too much fun during this set. I got in a fist fight trying to get closer to the stage. That was fun. Dumb bitch. She definitely won't start shit with anyone else that pushes past her. But the fight was worth it cause Luis is fantastic. <3

ANTI-FLAG?

I don't remember because at this point 1 beer had turned into...a few more. But I think this was ANTI-FLAG which is who I was fully stoked on seeing the whole drive to Jersey and I don't even remember them. =/

CIRCA SURVIVE!!!!

Anthony Green is probably one of the most talented lyricists/writers/performers or this generation. I love everything he puts out.

Checked out a few songs during I AM THE AVALANCHE to kill some time.

I hadn't seen them play in awhile. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Finallyyyyyyy it was 5:15 and I was pressed up between the Kool-Aid man..only it was a woman and a man in a cowboy hat smoking tree. ahaha. Guess where I was??

The Asbury Park Stage waiting for BRET MICHAELS!! Ok, I won't go into my obsession with him but now that he's a "tv star" I'm sure some of you can see why I love him. While we're waiting, chanting for Bret to come out I see Big John.

hahaha. He's a doof. <3 So while we're waiting and boiling hot in the heat I take the only 2 pics of me and my friend Jess that I did all day. I wish I would've taken more now. Oh well.

I had to crouch since I'm like 5'11" in those boots. haha.

There you see Kool-Aid in the background. (I made Jess switch with me. haha)
I also spy JEFFREE STAR off to the side with CHRIS CROCKER...at least that's who the girl next to me said it was.

Finally, the band comes out...

...and eventually so does Bret!!!

He was just too beautiful so I push closer:

At this point Jess starts clawing at my shoulder screaming to look to stage right (from where we are). It's Claudio from COHEED AND CAMBRIA, Jess' favorite band and also rather up there on my list of all time faves. So we have a little nervous breakdown and then we see

Claudio and Travis start setting up. They do the last song of his set with Bret. It was seriously the highlight of 2008 so far for me. Fucking phenomenal.

Saying goodbye to them sucked but at least Coheed was playing later. I LOVE YOU BRET!!!!

After Bret's set my feet were shot so I got a security guard to let me run to the car and change quick. Gotta love changing in parking lots. You're welcome boys in the black nissan. haha. So I head back inside and grab something to eat with Jess. Met up with a bunch of friends and relaxed for awhile until EVERY TIME I DIE. I was now in jeans and sneakers so I handed my stuff off to Jess and cracked heads with the boys. EMMURE played the same stage right after ETID. They were fucking br00t41 as always. haha. I didn't see Jesse. That made me sad but oh well. He's always around.

After EMMURE we ran over to Coheed. Jess went right into the belly of the beast. The crowd was enormous and there was still 15 mins until they were scheduled to play. I opted to stay in the back and just cool off for awhile. It was surprisingly my first time seeing Coheed and they were just amazing. I can honestly say I wasn't disappointed at all. So I head over to the Himalaya ride to meet up with my friend Brett (he did the photos of me with the RAVE! RAVE! RAVE! shirt) I'm walking when I hear someone call me and it was my friend Rich who I didn't expect to see there so that was nice. We met up with Brett and just talked and caught up on each others' lives. I missed them a lot. So around 9:10 we head over to the Asbury Park Stage one final time to see PANIC AT THE DISCO. There was a mass exodus from the Coheed stage to Panic's since they were back-to-back sets. It was nuts.I hung around until I got to hear Panic play my favorite song, "Lying is the Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off." Panic never disappoints. They are one of the few bands that honestly deserves all the fame and success they're enjoying. So I said goodbye to my friends and we left a little early to beat the traffic out of the parking lot. Great success!

Overall, I'd say Bamboozle is definitely worth checking out. There's a ton of talented artists, cool people, sweet contests, free rides and just a rockin' good time to be had. Thanks Buzznet!!!

Thanks to Buzznet, I was able to attend the Rockstar Taste of Chaos tour @ Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, NY. It was a great show. [Cut = Read more to find out all the details...] I got there a little late thanks to traffic on the Southern Parkway, but only missed the first band.

First things first, what I thought was awesome is that there were a few J-Rock (Japanese rock) bands on the tour:

MUCC

D'espairsray

and The Underneath

I used to be hugeeee into J-Rock in middle school, particularly a band called L'Arc~en~Ciel. No one I knew even knew about J-Rock, much less was even remotely interested in it. So it's f---ing sweet that it's getting widespread American promotion. Good job Rockstar!

Moving on...

Idiot Pilot

I don't even remember their set so either they didn't play or they really sucked and I went outside to smoke haha.

Bullet For My Valentine

I NEVER liked this band until I saw them live last night. They have loads of energy, ear-splitting guitar solos and cute little British accents haha. My apologies for never giving you boys a chance. ;]

Blessthefall

Blessthefall were the main reason I was psyched to go see this tour, but they were only given the smallest section of the stage to play on. My seats were not the greatest, so I couldn't see sh--. I thought they wouldn't let me bring a camera in so I left it in the car like an idiot, only to find out you could have a camera if it wasn't deemed 'professional quality.' So I squinted and strained to see these guys and I actually wasn't very impressed. They weren't nearly as heavy as they were last year and their live show was slightly, dare I say... boring?? I'm gonna guess it's due to the fact that they had a 10x10 ft space to move around in so I'll definitely need to check them out again before I make any solid judgement call. I still love ya guys!

Atreyu

Atreyu are easily my favorite band that played all night. I was super stoked that they played old favorites like "Ex's and Oh's" and "Bleeding Mascara", seeing as the new stuff is a little generic rockish. If I closed my eyes and listened to Lead Sails Paper Anchor, I wouldn't have a clue it was Atreyu. They stole the show last night though. <3

Avenged Sevenfold

My old favorite band... gotta say not so much anymore though. Zacky Vengeance is still holdin' it down old school. I've always had nothing but love for him. ;] But M. Shadows paraded around like he was Steven Tyler or Scott Weiland or something. Not so brutal. I liked that they were really patriotic though. That was unexpected. I've never been a patriotic person so to speak, but I have a few close friends in the Army and the Marines, so I wanna see all the support for the troops this country can muster up. Let's bring 'em all home alive and in one piece. Sorry...tangent. Anwyays, the pyrotechnics were kinda cool, I jumped outta my seat the first time they went off, not gonna lie haha.

Overall I'd say the Taste of Chaos tour is worth going out to see. I had a good time and judging by the energy still leftover at the end of the show everyone else there did too... or maybe that was just from all the free Rockstar Energy Drinks. ;] Definitely catch this tour guys.
Buzznet member Johnnynotsid also attended Taste of Chaos in Virginia and wrote a great review of her own.

[/cut]

Top death-rap artists: Trish's picks

OK. So I know I generally try to keep this journal about all things metal, however there is a related style of music I'm really into which is called 'death rap'. The term was invented by none other than the notorious underground hip-hop artist, Necro, in order to describe his ultraviolent lyrics [Cut = Read more...] which were inspired by death metal. These are the primary progenitors of the genre, and my personal favorites:

NECRO. Born and raised in Brooklyn. Founder of Psycho+Logical Records. Has released six albums to date.

ILL BILL. Necro's older brother. Gained popularity during his stint with the underground hip-hop group, Non Phixion. Has released six solo albums to date.

SABAC (RED). Born in Puerto Rico, but raised in Brooklyn. One of the original members of Non Phixion. He has just one solo album out, 'Sabacolypse' (2004).

GORETEX. One of the original members of Non Phixion. Currently has two solo albums out.

MR. HYDE. One of Necro's best friends. His flow is real basic, but his beats and samples are mouth-wateringly good.

IDE the SHANTY ONE. I can't find a picture of him alone but this is the cover of his debut album, 'Force Fed' (2007). It was the second full-length release from Creative Juices Music.

JAK PROGRESSO. My favorite, hands down. Again...no pictures of him alone but he does have a few videos up on Youtube. This is the cover of Creative Juices' first full-length release, 'Random Violence'. Gritty angst-filled voice spittin' macabre, beautifully violent rhymes. Check out the track 'Random Violence' and he describes himself perfectly, "Jak is the f---in' sh--. That's it." I couldn't say it better myself.
So Buzznet, check 'em out and see what you think!

[/cut]
